Your information, and how we use it.
Last updated 14 October 2026. This notice is being reviewed by a lawyer; if anything changes, the date above will change too.
The short version
- We collect only what we need to watch over your flock, answer you, and make our screening better.
- We never sell your information or your farm’s data.
- A bank or insurer sees your farm’s records only if you agree.
- You can ask us at any time to show you, correct or delete what we hold: privacy@nche.app.
Who we are
Nche makes monitoring devices and a free health-screening app for poultry farmers and vets. We are based in Nigeria. We are responsible for the information described here. For any question about it, email privacy@nche.app.
What we collect, and why
When you use this website
If you join a waitlist or contact us, we keep your name, how to reach you (email or phone), your country and anything you choose to add, such as your organisation or a message. We use it to reply to you and to tell you when what you asked about is ready. To stop spam, we also keep a scrambled version of your internet address that can’t be turned back into the address.
When you use the Nche app
The app has no sign-up. When you check your flock, we keep:
- The photo or recording you take, and your answers about the flock (type of bird, age, housing, signs you noticed). We need these to give you a result.
- Details about your phone and the photo or recording, such as the phone model, camera and microphone settings, and how bright or sharp the photo is. Phones capture things differently, and knowing this keeps results fair across phones.
- Your area. We see the country, region and city your connection comes from. If you allow it, the app also adds your rough location, to about 1 km, never your exact farm. This lets a vet know where a flock is and helps spot outbreaks early.
- A random app ID that tells us it’s the same phone as last time, without knowing who you are.
Each result comes with a report and a short code. Anyone you give the code or link to can open that report. It shows the result, your answers about the flock and your area, but not your name or phone details.
If you register as a vet
We keep your name, email, phone number if you give it, and your council and registration number. We use the registration number only to check the council’s public register, and it appears on reports only when you sign one.
From Nche devices on a farm
Readings such as temperature, humidity, ammonia, light, sound and, with the add-on unit, water use. We collect them under the agreement we make with that farm, to send alerts and keep the farm’s record.
Using photos and recordings to improve screening
With your permission, we use your photos and recordings, and what vets later find, to make our screening more accurate for every farmer. The app asks you first, and you can switch it off at any time in Settings. We never use your name or exact location for this.
Who can see your information
- Banks, insurers and programmes see a farm’s records only if the farmer agrees in writing, and the farmer can see exactly what is shared.
- Our service providers, such as Cloudflare for hosting and storage and Zoho for email, handle it only on our instructions.
- The law: we share information if we are legally required to.
We don’t sell information to anyone, and we don’t show advertising.
Keeping it safe
The website and the app use encrypted connections, and only the people at Nche who need your information can see it. Nche devices are still in their pilot build: we are building them to send readings over an encrypted connection and to seal each reading inside a secure chip, so a record can’t be changed without it showing.
Where it is stored
Our providers may store data on servers outside Nigeria. When they do, we use providers and contracts that protect it to the standard Nigerian law requires.
How long we keep it
Waitlist and contact details: until the service you asked about is ready and we’ve contacted you, and never more than 24 months. Photos, recordings and app results: for as long as they help improve screening, unless you ask us to delete them. Farm device records: for as long as agreed with the farm.
Cookies and on your phone
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t show ads. The website remembers only that you’ve closed the note about cookies. Our host, Cloudflare, may set a short-lived cookie to keep out bots; it doesn’t identify you. To tell real people from bots on forms, we use a check from Cloudflare that doesn’t identify you either.
The app stores your settings, your past checks and any checks waiting for a connection on your phone, so it works offline. You can clear them at any time in your browser’s settings.
To see which pages are useful, we count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t follow you to other websites and doesn’t identify you; it records things like the page, the country and the type of device. If we ever want to use cookies to measure how the site is used, we’ll ask you first, and the site will work the same whether you say yes or no.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and you can withdraw your permission at any time. Email privacy@nche.app; for app data, include a report code so we can find it. We’ll answer within 30 days.
We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and the GDPR for people in the European Union and the United Kingdom. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Nche is made for farmers, vets and businesses. It isn’t meant for children.
Terms
The rules for using the website, the app and its reports are in our terms of service.
